Outpost10F ISA Protocol List

Welcome to the Outpost 10F Intelligence and Security Agency (ISA) home page. The ISA department contains three security task forces - Star Trek Security, Star Wars Security and LOTR Security. These selected officers work to ensure a safe chat environment by enforcing the Prime Directives. This includes the extermination of any potential threat (both internal and external) and protection of all members of Outpost 10F. This department is not open for applications.

As a member of a Security Team (ST, SW or LOTR), you are required to comply with the ISA protocols. These protocols were written to ensure a uniform approach to any situation in the chat that calls for intervention on the part of a security officer. Failure to comply may result in dismissal from the ISA Department.

Section 0: In case of extreme emergency

  • In case of extreme emergency, you may disregard all other protocols, hold Hobbie solely responsible, and act accordingly. The usage of cloaked weapons and extreme force is accepted and demanded.

  • Further note that "because I felt like it" counts as an extreme emergency.

  • If this fails, raise level 5 shields about all rooms and shoot out everyone.

Section 1: General code of conduct

  • Do not have an arrogant attitude when consulting or warning violators in OTF chats. The fact that you're a security officer doesn't give you the right to bully or intimidate other officers.

  • You may handle all security problems in your designated OTF chatroom, UNLESS an officer of a higher rank tells you otherwise.

  • Communicate with fellow ISA officers via ICQ, AIM or some other form of instant messaging; even in the chat if need be. This way everyone has a clear idea of who copies the chat, provides backup, or talks things out with the offenders. It also helps to have someone assist in the spycam if possible.

  • Go into a chat to handle a situation, unless certain circumstances prevent it. If you have to remove an offender from the spycam, do so, but also report it. NEVER sniper anybody out, unless there really are no other alternatives. (NOTE: if shooting from the spycam was your only option in a certain situation, you MUST send the saved chatboard to your Security Team Leader as a justification for this action).

  • Always use diplomacy and talk to the offender(s) to calm the situation down. If there is a larger group fighting and breaking the rules, attempt to take control of the situation and talk to each individual and hear their story. There are times when talking to an offender and constant warnings fall on deaf ears. Then proper armory usage to warn and /or remove the chatter is necessary.

  • Never play with the level two phaser/blaster. It should only be used if there is no other alternative. Abuse of this, and more powerful weapons will NOT be tolerated.

  • Any task force related issue must go to the corresponding Team Leader who will then notify the ISA Director and Assistant Director. Please keep the chain of command intact when personnel issues arise. (Going on leave, resigning, and personal issues with a fellow team member, etc.)

Section 2: Procedure when dealing with offenders

  • Ensure that the presumed violator is in fact breaking OTF's Prime Directives. You are not permitted to take action against a chatter just because you don't like him/her or don't agree with something he/she says.

  • Issue a friendly warning before using any kind of weapon. Simply remind the person of the rules without threatening them in any way. (General code of conduct A and E)

  • If after two verbal warnings the offender still doesn't comply, use the level two blaster to remove the offender.

  • If the violator returns and continues to break the Prime Directives after that, you may use the level two blaster/phaser to remove him/her from the chatroom.

  • Should the violator return to the chat after more than two removals and persists in his/her troublesome behavior, then remove them with the Level 3 phaser/blaster (most of you do not have access to the level three phaser/blaster), contact a more senior officer for assistance and use the level two phaser/blaster again.

  • You are required to report every instance where you are forced to use the level two phaser/blaster (or higher) to your Team Leader. He/she will keep a record of all such instances. This will include the violator's handle, IP, time and date, as well as the name of the Security Deputy who fired the weapon.

Also remember to make a copy of the chatboard whenever you shoot. This is because sometimes the person being shot will complain about the way the situation was handled. Saving the chatboard will ensure that we have a copy of the incident.
