The Emergency Medical Hologram, EMH, is designed by Dr. Lewis Zimmerman on the Jupiter Research Center. The program is installed as standard software for shot term use, but the long term use on Voyager has led to various developments in the holomatrix of the doctor. He has a greater sense of self consciousness. Emotionally the doctor had developed himself from cold hearted to a warm and compassionate crew member. He has made a lot of friends on Voyager and has had a small romance.
