When
the U.S.S. Voyager finds remains of a science station, they investigate
who or what did the damage. While doing so, the ship rattles and finds itself
in the midst of a deadly anomaly. When they discover that the anomoly could
extend replicator power and rationing, Tom
Paris takes a shuttle in and collects samples. The anomaly suddenly appears
and pulls his shuttle into subspace to where all the eddies, that creates
these anomalys, originate. So, the shuttles leaves through one of the forming
ones, damaging the shuttle. He finally makes it out alive when he is transported
aboard the ship.
Meanwhile the Doctor experiments on a holographic family, to be more
patientwith his patients. He asks B'Ellana Torres to make it more of an
authentic experience for him. His
family is more impatient with his wife Charlene working all the time,
his son Jeffrey with bad-influencial Klingon friends and loud music, and
his daughter Belle complaining all the time and risking her life playing
a game with kids two or three years older than her. The doctor has trouble
dealing with them until his daughter has had a deadly fall during the
practice of her game, and dies.
