After Tuvok gets slightly humiliated about some stories on the U.S.S. Voyager, he is then promoted to Lieutenant Commander by Captain Janeway. During the party, Paris stops Torres and tells her that understands they recently were almost in oxygen depletion and that she revealed that she loved him. Torres tries to tell him to forget it until he interupts her with a kiss.

The Party is interrupted when the Bridge calls up Janeway and the Doctor with a distress signal from a hologram. The Doctor feels he is obligated as a fellow hologram to help him, but he takes Torres with him so she can monitor his mobile emitter. They both discover, while making repairs on his ship, that he killed his crew because he hates humanoids. He disables the Doctor and attempts to kill Torres by reaching inside of her and contaminating her heart.

Harry Kim is assigned to work with Seven of Nine on the new Astrometric lab, by Commander Chakotay. Kim is uneasy working with the Borg, but their detail provides them with the basis of a friendship. However, Kim is rattled when Seven of Nine interprets his pleasantries as romantic seduction and she decides to further explore her resurgent humanity by telling him to take off his clothes. But, of course, Kim tells her no.
