Greetings!
After much work and anticipation I would like to announce that our
departmental structure at Outpost 10F has officially altered in
attempts to form what we believe will be a more stable team system.
Over the past month Command staff and departmental heads have been working
together analyzing their departments and assembling well defined work groups
through categorization and standardization. This process
has enabled us to see where project conflicts were happening and realize
inefficiencies. This restructuring will have an effect on the way
OTF departments operate. Here is a run down of some of the most important
changes:
- There are now 5 official Outpost 10F departments - Communications,
Counseling, Engineering, Research & Development, and the ISA (Intelligence
and Security Agency).
- These 5 departments are global in nature, which means they span both
the Star Trek and Star Wars (CCC) sides of the Outpost. Due to this,
departments will be able to recruit personnel from both the Star Trek
and Star Wars sides.
- The Administrations department has been dissolved.
- The former CCC Gaming Department has been moved into the Communications department
where it will operate as a team.
- The CCC Construction department has formed an alliance with the Star Trek
Engineering department to form an official Outpost 10F Engineering department.
Both Terral and Jayneway will work
together in ensuring a well organized and efficient Engineering team.
- Well defined teams and task groups have been established in each of
our departments. For the most part, each of these groups is managed
by a team leader, who generally holds more authority than before. This
authority manifests itself as day-to-day management capability, as well
as recruting ability in some cases. Under such a system, departmental
heads will not be responsible for all the management tasks required
to run a department, and thus departments will be able to support a
larger membership and a more diverse project set.
- Outpost 10F Command - the group of officers who manage department heads and assist
with top level decision making - has changed. As of today both the Star Wars and Star Trek
side have a Sector Commander and Deputy Sector Commander. Comm. Robert Fox and Capt.
RDMG are the Sector Commander and Deputy Sector Commander for the Star Trek side respectively,
while Jedi Masters JKAD and Draco Hun fulfill these roles for the Star Wars side. These
four officers report to both the Vice-Commander (Adm. Rascal) and the Commander-in-Chief
(Flt. Adm. Adolf). In addition to these six command officers, Comm. Sonata Form, Comm. Joshua Hal,
and Capt. Teekay also become offical members of Outpost 10F Command totalling the membership
to 9.
- All departmental heads will have global ranks. This means that their clearance/access level amd rank will be
in place in both the Star Trek chatrooms and the CCC.
- An Internal Development Group within OTF Command has been formed. This group is led by Adm. Rascal and will
concentrate on improving and managing site systems, files, and technical issues. Within this group are three
sub-groups: Develomental Technologies, Information Technology, and Internal Operations.
- Developmental Technologies is comprised of Capt. Teekay, Comm. Sonata, and Capt. RQ. These
three officers will work together on high level site projects which focus on web design
and implementation.
- Information Technology currently has one member - Comm. Joshua Hal. Comm.
Hal will assist with the management of current site systems and the development of new ones.
- Internal Operations will focus on testing/debugging systems and will fulfill the role as technical support
personnel. This section currently has only one member - Capt. Robby.
We are are very excited about these changes to say the least. It wasn't easy
going through this process but we feel that once people have become
familiar with this structure things will be much better for everyone.
Note that this is the first Phase of our restructuring plan. There
are several more deadlines that will be achieved by the end of September.
Over the next two days our five departments will be posting their restructuring plans on this
board for everyone to see.
The official OTF Restructuring Plan as released to the heads can be read in PDF format.
There is also an interactive graphical representation of our departmental structure.
Regards,
Adms. Adolf & Rascal
