| 1/2 cup | butter |
| 2 cups | flour |
| 2 tsp | baking soda |
| 1 tsp | cinnamon |
| 1/2 tsp | ground cloves |
| 1/2 tsp | ground ginger |
| 1/4 tsp | salt |
| 1/4 cup | molasses |
| 1/2 cup | brown sugar |
| 1/4 cup | white sugar |
| 1 | egg |
1. Melt the butter, and set aside to cool.
2. Sift together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, and salt.
3. Cream molasses, butter, sugar and egg in separate bowl. Mixture should
visibly lighten after 3 minutes.
4. Fold half of the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, then beat on
low. Fold in the second half of dry, and continue beating.
5. Chill the dough for 15 minutes.
6. Preheat oven to 325.
7. Form dough into balls by hand. Roll half the ball in a small bowl
of sugar. Place sugar side up on baking sheet, and flatten to 1/2-1/4 inch thick.
8. Bake 12-13 minutes.
