“If I were … I would date you.”

Yeah, this is finally got to stop, people. I know you mean well with your statements of “If I were [insert gay, closer, male here], I’d date you.” This sentance only serves to remind me that you AREN’T gay/closer or that I’m out of the norm. This situation only serves to make me grumpy, upset, sad and want to cry. If you’re male and you were saying that if you were gay you’d date me, well have you concidered WHY you’re saying that? Have you honestly thought about dating someone of the same sex and/or seriously tried it? If you’re saying that if you were closer you’d date me, pack up and move. If you’re wishing that you were male, there’s operations for that. Does that make sense? I mean, I’m just frustrated with people that say such things in an effort to make me feel better without concideration of the actual impact of those words. I know it’s a small pet peeve that I’m making out to be a big deal, but it just happens so often that it’s frustrating.

Though, I would like to say a genuine note of You’re Awesome to an Australian friend of mine who’s straight who has no hang ups about cuddling with me. *nod* Kudos, you know who you are.

Nobbe out.
