Let the world know, Tom needs breakfast

Yes, that’s right, I’ve just pulled yet another pointless all nighter. *F* Rawk on. Anyway, I’m debating about just watching my QAF later. I really wanna watch episodes 9 through 11, but yeah, I have to wait for stupid episode nine to convert from .wma to .avi format so I can watch it in my prefered player (I’m a loser, I know). Only 20 minutes to go (from the original 33) so I think I’m going to get some food. :D Cheerio!

Pride

Pride.

What is Pride? Pride is a sense of one’s own proper dignity or value. Pride is a display of pleasure or satisfaction derived from achievement, a possession or an association. Pride is a feeling of self-respect and personal worth. Pride is about feeling important about yourself.

Gay Pride is just that. It is taking pride in still being valued, still being human and still having worth as a human being. Gay Pride is a celebration of the accomplishment and stuggle of those people who have fought for equal value and rights on the lives of homosexual, bisexual, transsexual (and beyond) persons. It is a time when we celebrate being able to walk down the street holding hands with members of the same sex in our concervative continent. It’s a yearly vindication and affirmation of our lives. It is an oppourtunity for us to remember that we are intelligent human beings that are a strong contributing force to modern society.

Gay Pride isn’t simply a giant parade flowing down city streets and into bars, clubs, performance halls, and arenas - those are mere expressions of this intangable concepts. They are ways people deal with the joy and freedom of being able to say to someone of the same sex I love my wife or I love my husband, partner, boyfriend or girlfriend. Granted, some displays of this joyous freedom may come out in unique ways like drag queens, but it is an important and healthy part to any queer life.

Imagine - being faced with intolerance for much of the year for being something other than a vast majority of society is except for a few days of the year when you can have the chance to be who you are. Imagine if suddenly you were hated because you had red, black or brown hair instead of the expected blonde? what if you were shunned because you had blue, brown, hazel or orange eyes instead of the desired green? It is much the same as being queer.

In short, Welcome to midseason of Gay Pride that are undoubtedly storming across many nations. Gay, Straight or otherwise, feel free to allow yourself to feel a sense of pride at all the accomplishments of equal rights, equal worth and equal value in whatever way you deem appropriate for the occasion.

Until next time,
Nobbe (CL7)

Morning Report

Good morning everyone!

Nothing much has changed since last night. It’s been another frustrating night. >.< The bartender completely screwed up on his deposit so I had to spend over an hour trying to figure it out and make it work (which of course, I did, naturally.). As it turned out, he completely forgot to input things properly into the first computer system, which of course didn't allow the second to balance, followed by an error with the bank card machine. >.< (yes, I rule - thank you Iain!)

“If I were … I would date you.”

Yeah, this is finally got to stop, people. I know you mean well with your statements of “If I were [insert gay, closer, male here], I’d date you.” This sentance only serves to remind me that you AREN’T gay/closer or that I’m out of the norm. This situation only serves to make me grumpy, upset, sad and want to cry. If you’re male and you were saying that if you were gay you’d date me, well have you concidered WHY you’re saying that? Have you honestly thought about dating someone of the same sex and/or seriously tried it? If you’re saying that if you were closer you’d date me, pack up and move. If you’re wishing that you were male, there’s operations for that. Does that make sense? I mean, I’m just frustrated with people that say such things in an effort to make me feel better without concideration of the actual impact of those words. I know it’s a small pet peeve that I’m making out to be a big deal, but it just happens so often that it’s frustrating.

Though, I would like to say a genuine note of You’re Awesome to an Australian friend of mine who’s straight who has no hang ups about cuddling with me. *nod* Kudos, you know who you are.

Nobbe out.

Shattered surface

And on the shattered surface we lay,
Shards of the perfect reality stab our backs
and they remind us of the
eden world
we left behind for our state of knowledge.
Bliss for knowing - what a choice.
Was it truely Eve? Or was it Adam?
That was the betrayor of him? her? it?
It is these questions that we would all know
the answers for
If only they could stay their lust of fruit.
Yet, why place such temptation if he? she? it?
wished to keep us as his? her? its? children?
These questions plague me and more -
divide me.
answer me not you will.
For you are the silent one.
Oblivious to my questions
as we lay here
with our shattered existance,
draining more than just our blood.

The Beach

We are the forgotten children,
The ones who made mistakes.
We are the ones who try to set right,
What it is we have done wrong.

They are those that fight.
Longing for release,
Yet seemingly unable to listen when we say
“I was wrong.”

The globe spins,
’round and ’round.
I try and stand against it,
Yet I fight more than just space.

How, or why?
What happened?
When? and Who crossed who?
I am in part the cause of all destruction.

In this valley,
I see eagles circling.
For this prey is far too good
To leave for vultures.

What storm clouds that gather,
Those stars that collide,
Further to spread the beach sand,
Causing further irritation - I stand in their way.

Mere weather shall not stand in my way.
I have a goal, a journey to follow.
While it’s not been unscathed,
Blacked and hollowed, I must still fight on.

They are those who lie on the beach.
Knowing the cost, but hoping for naught.
I am the water that falls from the sky.
Trying to wash the sand away, for the time is high.

Serenity will soon come,
Hopefully the cost not too high.
For it is the day that we ask to say:
“We were wrong.”

We are those…

We are those that lead our community.
We are those that take the extra time to make the hard calls.
We are those that make your recommendations reality.
We are those that hand out recognition.
We are those that don’t ask anything in return.
We are those that are taken for granted.
We are those that still are your friends.
We are those that don’t get asked how our day was.
We are those that don’t get hellos.
We are those that are approached when people want something.
We are those that don’t forget.
We are those that form your Executive Council.
We are those that don’t ask for (but still would like) a simple smile and thanks after a job well done.
We are those…

Star Trek XI

So, after doing some hunting about online, I - of course - found many many rumours about the ST:XI project (apparently due in 2007…) and I found myself to be completely disappointed. What is it with Star Trek’s most recent infatuation with the PAST when there’s so much left undone in the present time period of the ST universe? If you ask me, they just don’t want to touch the present because that leaves a lot of ST fans without all the fan fiction writing possibilities. What I’d really REALLY want to see in the future of Star Trek would be some finality to some of the plot strings they’ve already got going. With Will and Deanna leaving the Enterprise (and Data somehow still not the first officer…) that pretty much closed the book on TNG…however, there’s still VOY and DS9 to worry about. Voyager, in my mind, still has a lot of potential. Did Voyager finally deal a crippling blow to the Borg? What is the Federation going to be doing with the Maquis crew members? What happens to Captain Janeway that she becomes an Admiral - despite the wild predictions of many ST fans that she’d get demoted upon return to the Alpha Quadrant. What implications does the Doctor’s Holoemitter have on the current time period upon return? What happens to the Seven/Chakotay relationship? Does Harry ever FINALLY get promoted?

Thoughts of a dangerous mind

So, here’s my big thing - I have absolutly no idea where I’m headed. I can’t help but feel like I’m kind of a loser - no, that’s not the word. I’m a loner. Yes, a loner. I mean, my friends are basically all in this stupid little box. It totally sucks. Everything I seem to touch seems to melt into thin air. I just seem to loose track of friends…I don’t know where to head or what to do with life.

I’m rather annoyed. Yet - of course I can’t say much. Needless to say, I’m rather frustrated that someone called me a liar then didn’t believe me when I assured them I knew nothing. Like, what the crap.

Yes, things, for those who’ve noticed, are rather rough for me right now. My real life isn’t on steady waters right now. I’m basically living Meteora right now. I think I might have a chemical imbalance or something because whenever I’m REALLY happy for one day, I’m six times more UNHAPPY for twice as long as I’m happy.

Oh, and I’ve been having some serious headaches for two weeks now - incase anyone wondered.

The Sexual Induendo

Ah, what a novelty. The ability to turn whatever one says into immature oooh, he mentioned a penis again style conversation. What would the world be like without the whole ’sex’ element of a conversation. Imagine this innocent line of conversation: “My migrane has gone from feeling like an earth shattering asteroid explosion to a mild volcanic erruption.” “Ooh, speaking of erruptions…” Like, come on. What are we? Two? I realise that some of you are fags and all, but please, try to act older than the number of bones in one finger. I’m not asking for much, maybe a serious conversation here or there that doesn’t devolve into “Hey! How big is your sexual organ?” or “Hey, I’m a dentist…mind if I practice some oral medicine?” I mean, HELLO! I have a sex drive but, PLEASE! I don’t need a reminder every five seconds that you do too. Sometimes I’m quite happy picturing people as non-sexual people… like my parents for example…or my roommate. But, that’s a whole other rant that wouldn’t fly well on here. *nod*

So, I just spent the past half hour writing a long e-mail to my parents. It’s funny, y’know? You move out and you realise why you were such a rotten kid sometimes. I mean, I feel I put my parents through a lot of unneeded crap as I was growing up based around my sexuality, my lack of self confidance, my social problems… man, there’s a lot. I hope they respond well…
