I’ve got a friend he’s a pure-bred killing machine
He say’s he’s waited his whole damn life for this.
I knew him well when he was seventeen.
Now he’s a man he’ll be dead by Christmas
And so, everybody’s going to war
But we don’t know what we’re fighting for
Don’t tell me it’s a worth cause
No cause could be so worthy.
If love is a drug, I guess we’re all sober
If hope is a song, then I guess it’s all over
How to have faith, when faith is crime
I don’t want to die
If god’s on our side, then god is a joker
Asleep on the job, his children fall over
Running out through the door and straight to sky
I don’t want to die
For every man who wants to rule the world
There’ll be a man who just wants to be free
What do we learn but what should not be learned?
Too late to find a cure for this disease
And so, everybody’s going to war
But we don’t know what we’re fighting for
Don’t tell me it’s a worth cause
No cause could be so worthy.
If love is a drug, I guess we’re all sober
If hope is a song, then I guess it’s all over
How to have faith, when faith is crime
I don’t want to die
If god’s on our side, then god is a joker
Asleep on the job, his children fall over
Running out through the door and straight to sky
I don’t want to die
I- I- I- I don’t want to die
I- I don’t want to die
I’ve got a friend he’s a pure-bred killing machine
He say’s he’s waited his whole damn life for this.
I knew him well when he was seventeen.
Now he’s a man he’ll be dead by Christmas
Hey, I heard this song on the radio today, and the lyrics really moved me. I’m not particularly patriotic, and war doesn’t really get to me, because i guess I have that selfish English point of view of “well as long as it doesn’t happen to me, i dont mind”. But this song really made me sit and think, and I really feel for those people who have to go out and fight wars for their country, usually just because the leaders of the countries are so pathetic that they can’t sort out their differences without sending innocent people to go do it for them. What does it achieve? If they want to start a war, they should go and fight between the two of them.
Thanks for showing this on the website, is a great song with a true meaning behind it.
there hasnt been a song in a long time where i’ve actually listened to the lyrics and i’ve stopped in my tracks, and thought about it,
i heard this song on local radio, it hasnt been played a lot here in the U.K. but i.m.o. this song should be massive…..
regards.
“for an android….that can be an eternity”
i first heard this song this wednesday, when nerina were ‘support band’ for james blunt, hovet, stockholm, sweden. i just can’t get it out of my head, but i can’t find it anywhere for downloading. it’s really killing me. does anybody know where i can find it? nerina pallot, i adore you.
Sorry, other than something like limewire, I couldn’t tell you
hi jus 2 let ya kno some of the words in this r wrong
cya
Thanks – hopefully that’s it fixed. Quite hard to find these lyrics still.
“have that selfish English point of view”
EXCUSE ME! ... i just happen to be English and i really don’t think that is the way we all think over here… We mostly have the views of those concerned in frount of our own interests.
I think she has a point, well not just an english POV, it’s something that most (note the most not all) are guilty of. As long as they’re not affected they don’t really care too much.
I am a British Muslim. Though I am only 15 I can firmly say that war does effect me, seeing images of dying and diseased people on the news or on the internet it does get to you and to be honest i do think that MOST BRITISH people DO give a damn what happens to other people even if it’s not happeing to them!
Hiya i luv dis song n i am engish and i think that some people in england think like that but so do people in other countries and you cant single england out for that, but most people in england care about each other and people all over the world. i hate war and when that war with iraq started i got upset because i hate seeing war on the news. this song really moved me.
i would also like to point out that there is a line missing from the chorus in the lyrics. please could you try to update that! fanx! luv ya
Okay all edited like
may i just add something, i dont know if the words are right but i like the lyrics very much.
hi i just want to say that although war is going on outside our country its still affecting us bak here in the uk and if this song doesn’t get that msg across to us all then i don’t no what will.
im thinking this and im only a 14yr old girl
I like the bit about, ‘If god’s on our side, then god is a joker. Asleep on the job, his children fall over’. It’s so tupid how in World War 2 both sides were praying to God for help to win and priests were blessing the weapons. As if God would want to help them win a war when he said ‘Thou must not kill’.
Hi all!
I can’t be bothered with anything these days, but shrug. I just don’t have anything to say recently.
Bye
