Pointless, odd, ramblings

June 7th, 2009

It’s all happening now

So lots n lots to catch up on.

Firstly – getting my room done.  More importantly getting a new bed, which I desperately need.   The down side is that I’ve had to clear all my stuff out :( .  Including taking the posters off the wall, which makes my room seems echo-y.  However here is a before picture (although I possibly should’ve taken it before I cleared everything)

before

You may find yourself with some between photos :) .

In other news – went to see the doctor about getting some help losing weight and now I’m on something called Xenical.  Haven’t eaten any sweets since Monday (yeah yeah big deal) and I’ve been out walking for 30 mins for nearly every day (cept Thursday although I did a bit) and yesterday (because it was raining but seeing as how cleared out most of my books n wot not and carried them up to the attic, I figured I was covered).  Supposed to go back in 4-weeks to see how I’m getting on but they took some blood and sent me out a letter asking me to make a “non urgent” appointment to talk about it.  I’m hoping it’s just standard.

I’m just wondering if it’s about my cholesterol.  Now last time I had it taken it was quite low (3.9 I think) and these tablets work by stopping your body from absorbing 30% of your intake of fat (and yes there was some seepage – sandwiches with marie rose sauce are NOT recommended).  So if I had low cholesterol, wouldn’t it suggest that my fat intake isn’t that high?  I guess I’ll find out tomorrow.  The hardest thing is keeping it all secret from my mum.  Don’t ask me why I want it to be. I don’t know.  I know that I feel really guilty that I can’t seem to diet without just doing it but bleh.  We’ll see.

Oh and here is a screenshot of my new(ish) WoW character Layton with her cat Casper

Todays big question

Should I be worried that there’s such a thing as emo porn?

Bloodsuckers

So as I was saying I read the Twilight series. I think I might have to read it again at some point but slower, although I still think that book 2 was just a bit too angsty

Moved onto the Southern Vampire book series which the tv series True Blood (back in June hurrah!) is based on. Loved it. Really really loved it. Read all 8 books in the space of 3 days. The next one isn’t out until may in the US (June in the UK) so I’ve ordered the hardback off Amazon.com and paid for business deliver (because the priority delivery was worth more than the actual book).

I’m really hoping Sookie gets back with Vampire Bill and that he doesn’t die.

It’s all gone a bit emo

Angsty emo at that.

I hope they don’t make the sequel to Twilight, most of the movie will be all about how depressed she is.

I’d totally do the guy who plays Edward Cullen though (as long as he wasn’t made of marble and is legal – ooh nearly 23 excellent :) )

Oh no! They are making it :(

Nothingness

Mental! Mental! Mental! Dead! Is how work is at the mo. So as you can guess this is one of the dead periods.. (Well several dead periods since this is apparently a work in progress)

Unfortunately I can’t think of a damn thing to say :( . Brother is getting married. I have emphatically stated that I don’t want to be a bridesmaid but I’ll still have to dress up. So I have to think of something to wear and I refuse absolutely point blank to wear a skirt or a dress, but I have no idea of what kind of outfit I should really wear.

It’d also be kind of cool if I could lose some weight so that I had some actual choice. I had planned to star t walking again but it was stormy at the weekend and raining last night. Just keep getting those excuses Last night again, pissing it down. Then of course tonight is quiz night so my WoW playing time is limited anyway. Going to try anyway (unless it’s raining again).

Speaking of WoW managed to reach the dizzy heights of level 80. I shall have to get a more up to date picture. Changed my hair :) it’s now short n green! I’m just busy doing achievements at the minute. I still have one more zone to complete in Wrath of the Lich King, but really what’s the rush? I mean I’m not going to be the first by any means. Just good stuff for selling, who needs crappy, evil, should be shot, gold sellers? I only wish that Dalaran weren’t quite so laggy for me. Rather annoying :( .

So far not rainy. Typical. Fecking typical

Fangs

There have been an awful lot of vampire centric tv shows. Buffy & Angel, Moonlight, Blood Ties possibly more (I’ll check it out later). So I originally decided not to watch True Blood, however I recently caved and started obtaining them through the magic of t’interwebs. Very glad I did. It’s by the guy who did Six Feet Under and if you’re a mediumly offended person it’s really not for you. Lots of sex, nudity, swearing and a little bit of violence. So if you like that sort of thing the show is for you. Well it’s not so much the liking as the fact that I really do appreciate having tv shows that aren’t aimed at the widest possible age range audience. (Wohoo yes go have a meeting so I don’t have to pretend I’m doing something.)

Also Bill the vampire is sexy. Apparently the show is quite faithful to the books although mixed reviews on one of my forum threads talking about the show so I again used the magic of t’interwebs to obtain copies which I can read on my fucking kick ass ebook reader. Which I love btw

Just not that keen on the cover. Might try and get a black one instead. It’s a browny colour. Of course I’d love a purple one but they don’t seem to do that. You’d think that’d be something that they’d have a lot of choice in but hey-ho – I’ll keep checking ebay. I’ve also decided to cancel my long standing Mills & Boon Historical Novel delivery. Might as well just download them as ebooks. Save so much space and probably money.

Xmas is rapidly approaching not doing too bad. Gone halfers with my mum for a bunch of prezzies and I just need to get my mum and my dad which of course are the most awkward.

Christ people talk bullshit sometimes. Completely making crap up as they go along. Hah irony!

Blah Blah Blah Bleurgh

I’ve only started work and already I’m bored bored bored. At least I’m on the phones so I don’t really have to look like I’m doing work.

Hah started that last Thursday and didn’t get finished. Although in all fairness I was off on Friday and Monday. Happy Birthday to meeeeee!

Hopefully I shall have got Wrath of the Lich King by the time this gets posted. Have to wait until 16.30 as they may need phone cover :( but I plan to be packed and ready to jump up come 4.30. should have gone this morning but it was raining and I couldn’t be bothered! Ahh hindsight and all that.

Of course there will be probably be one big ass download when I do get it.

Oh well tick tock time to pack up

(and I did get it ;) )

The world breathes a sigh of a relief…..

as the US finally does the right thing.

USA

Apparently I didn’t jinx it. Hurrah! So the question is now – is assassination a real possibility or will even the vile supremacists succumb to the rose tinted glasses that so many ‘mericans seem to wear when it comes to their President? i.e. that while in office they can do wrong? If not and the absolute worst happens at least Biden isn’t Palin. The cherry on the cake would be if McCain croaks during the next four years thus proving that a Palin presidency was a real possibility. Not that I want McCain to die I’d like to stress.

I wonder if American’s find it patronising that people who don’t live in their country have such deeply held opinions about who should lead it. Of course you could argue that America has such an impact on the world that we all have an invested interest in who’s in charge. I’m not even speaking about lie induced wars.

The ironic thing however is that the majority of Americans seem completely unaware of the world at large. Although perhaps that is the same of all countries but as someone who is somewhat aware of the rest of the world I don’t recognise it in my countrymen.

Certainly the public reaction to some newspapers would seem to suggest that this is the case. I’m fairly sure I’ve posted about this before but the screaming hysterics over the most unworthy stories is just ridiculous. Look at the whole Russel Brand/Johnathan Ross thing. Yes it was in poor taste and shouldn’t have been done but it hardly deserved a lynching.

It now also seems that they are completely incapable of printing an accurate story. One example was “sex education for 5 year olds” Which had nothing to do with sex education but more to do with biology. Then there was the “Richard Dawkin’s thinks Santa should be banned” when in fact he had said it would be interesting to see if childhood myths would be interesting to investigate to see if they have negative effect. He didn’t even say he would (investigate).

In other news people are being beaten, raped and murdered in their masses in the Congo but more importantly Jeremy Clarkson said something Jeremy Clarksonish.

I think what annoys me the most is that people go along with it all like good little sheep. Baahhhing in moral outrage. Why not go the whole hog and jump off the fucking cliff. Sheep also jump off cliffs btw. I’m not mixing up my animals. The whole lemmings thing is an urban myth.

I’ve just found out that Proposition 8 has passed in California (something to do with only allowing marriage between a man and a woman). So apparently we can only drag the US so far into the modern century.

People suck!

Although I guess that’s a well known fact.

What a lot of rambling that will never be read by anyone. Oh well.

One man one vote

It’s my party and I’ll not cry if I want to. I’ve got my sony ebook reader for my birthday – lookit.

Sony Reader

I’m so high tech and star trekky.

I’m hoping that I’ll be able to read it in work while I’m waiting for a call and al my tasks are done but who knows….. Still fucking cool. also means I can read my star trek books without fear of mockery from the great unwashed.

American election happening right now. Hope Bema wins. If only so that the complete insanity that is Sarah Palin is nowhere near the oval office. Not that I’m all that interested in US politics but she thinks shooting animals from a helicopter is a valid sport. America has had enough idiots in charge. It’s time for someone who at least appears to have half a brain

Of course now that I have stated my support for Obama, he will no doubt lose.

In other news I have bought my fast flying mount but I have decided that I want to get the epic mounts for other factions. So working on Ironforge at the minute. Don’t think I can get a gnome amount though because you can only be a gnome so Exodar after that!

I may take screenshots for your pleasure.

A is for Kaos

Okay so, as promised an entertainment update!

Films

Seen lots of films lately. However special mention to the X Files – I want to believe. I have to admit to being a little disappointed with it. With the stem cell research plot I kept feeling like I was being sold a political line, and I’m already pro stem cell research. It also seemed a bit odd that the church led hospital apparently had no problem with stem cells. Just a bit too angsty for my liking!

Really really enjoyed Get Smart and Hell Boy. Particularly in Hell Boy where they actually mentioned Northern Ireland, go there (well perhaps not really but pretend to) and then have a Northern Irish character. Course it was a Spanish director, who probably has a bit more respect than your usual “just get someone to put on a shitty accent” American director.

Books

Currently reading Inkheart by Cornelia Funke which is the sequel to Inkspell and part of trilogy. They are books for kids, but really enjoyable. Also they’re translated from German. It’s basically about a girl who can read herself or people out of stories but it’s centred around the story in one particular book. A fairly original idea I think. There were rumours of a movie but I haven’t heard anything.

I finally managed to finish the TNG “A time to….” Series. Which is set just prior to Nemesis. So anything I read after that will be post Nemesis. They will probably write stuff pre Nemesis but I never feel inclined to read books that are set further back in the time line. I want the story to be moving forward.

I’ve also started with Star Wars again. So read the first in a post New Jedi Order, well I think it’s a trilogy (the Dark Nest) but the story continues into the next series. It’s not going to work out well for the Solo family L . SW is my next book actually!

Music

Well in all honesty I haven’t bought any albums recently. Couple of individual songs that I like but no new albums coming out unfortunately. Well not that I know of. Hmm perhaps I should do a quickie shufty on Amazon. Nope, nothing, nada. Although there was one which was bought by people who bought lifehouse and matchbox twenty which I might have a listen to.

Resplendent Monkeys

Work is a bit slow at the mo. Ooh I’m a poet and I didn’t know it. I also have a bit of deja vu, I’ll have to check to see if I said this before.Poor little blog is so used and abused, Ignored for months and then I only write something because I’m bored at work :( .

So, nothing much happening really. As I have said several times already playing warcraft so my net habits go check email, check forums, get any co-ords or info I need from wowhead and then log on to wow. Up to level 65 now. Trying to level up my fishing – harder than I anticipated though. I feel like I’m on a mission now. So I might spend this evening doing that. Ooh and there’s a new instalment out shortly. Just in time for my birthday in fact! Not that I’ve finished the Burning Crusade. Not that you really finish at all I suppose.

If there were any doubt that I were a geek I think I’ve just destroyed that.

My 2 weeks on my lonesome have come and gone and much enjoyed. I wish I were a millionaire and could live like that all the time. It’d be sweet!

Dear god I hate other departments. I’m sitting sending duplicates and in this case triplicates of stuff. I hate it even more when the thing we need is in the papers and it’s not been actioned. Hah! Correction it was completely and utterly wrong. So apologies nameless colleague (at least in this case I’ve found plenty of other fuckups).

Saw Steve the other day. Acknowledged my existence which is more than he’s done in a while. Sadly broke up with his girl however.  Although I thought his girl was a bit of a bitch in all honesty.

Hmm think I might do an entertainment update tomorrow

And the gold goes to…..

I’m a wee bit bored so as I’m half watching the olympics online so I can’t play Warcraft, I’ve read all my forums and I can’t be bothered with yahoo answers at the moment.

We (GB & NI) did really rather well, to put it in context it’s our best games since 1908 I believe.

The mother is wanting to go to the 2012 olympics and I was looking up info about it, you have to enter a ballot for tickets apparently all seems rather complicated!
